01These terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and SIA Sneeds, registration number 40203301249, Klusā iela 18–55, Rīga, LV-1013, Latvia ("we", "us", "BrightPoints").
By creating an account or using BrightPoints, you accept these Terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the service.
How we handle your family's data is described separately in our Privacy Policy and Children's Privacy Notice, which form part of your agreement with us.
02Who may use BrightPoints
You must be at least 18 years old and a parent, legal guardian, or another adult with responsibility for the children you add. You confirm this when you create your account.
Children use BrightPoints only through a profile that you create and control. A child cannot register independently.
By adding a child profile, you confirm that you are the child's parent or legal guardian, or that you have that person's permission to do so.
03Your account
- Provide accurate information when you register.
- Keep your password confidential. You are responsible for activity under your account.
- You are responsible for the usernames and PINs you create for your children, and for deciding who in your household knows them.
- Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.
04Families and co-parents
BrightPoints allows more than one adult to share a family. If you invite another adult, they will be able to see and manage that family's children, behaviours, rewards, and history.
Where a family is shared between separated or divorced parents, BrightPoints is a neutral tool. We do not arbitrate disputes between adults, and we cannot take sides in disagreements about custody, access, or parenting decisions.
05What BrightPoints is — and is not
BrightPoints is a tool for families to track effort and rewards. It is:
- not a medical, diagnostic, therapeutic, or psychological product
- not an educational assessment or a measure of a child's ability
- not a substitute for professional advice about a child's development, behaviour, or health
Every child is different, and outcomes vary. Use your own judgement about what suits your family.
06Points have no monetary value
Points, XP, levels, and any items unlocked in the app:
- are a feature of the app only
- have no monetary value
- are not currency, credit, tokens, or any form of financial instrument
- cannot be exchanged for money, transferred between families, or redeemed with us for anything
A child can never buy anything in BrightPoints. There are no in-app purchases in the child app, no advertising, and nothing a child sees can be paid for. Playful features such as the bonus spin and the aquarium decorations cost nothing, cannot be bought, and cannot be influenced by payment. A child can never spend anything in BrightPoints other than the points you have awarded them.
The only thing that can be paid for is an optional parent subscription, BrightPoints Plus, described in Paid subscriptions. Buying it does not change any child's points, level, or collection.
07Rewards are between you and your child
The rewards in BrightPoints — screen time, outings, treats, privileges, and anything else you create — are set, approved, and provided entirely by you. We do not provide, fund, deliver, or guarantee any reward. We are not a party to the arrangement between you and your child.
08Paid subscriptions
BrightPoints is free to use. BrightPoints Plus is an optional paid subscription for parents that raises the free plan's limits — more families, more child profiles, unlimited co-parents, more custom categories, advanced insights, and data export.
Who you are buying from
Prices, billing, and renewal
- BrightPoints Plus is €4.99 per month or €39.99 per year. Prices are shown before you pay; tax is added at checkout where it applies.
- A subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period, at the same price, until you cancel.
- You can cancel at any time from Settings → Plan, which opens Paddle's billing portal. Cancelling stops the next renewal; your Plus features remain available until the end of the period you have already paid for.
- If a renewal payment fails, we keep your access active while Paddle retries. If it ultimately fails, the subscription ends.
- We may change prices for future billing periods. We will tell you before a change affects you, and you can cancel before it takes effect.
What happens if you stop paying
We never delete your family data because a subscription ended. If you end up over a free-plan limit — for example three child profiles when the free plan includes one — the extra profiles become read-only rather than deleted: their history stays, no new points are recorded for them, and everything unlocks again the moment Plus is active. You can also delete a profile yourself at any time.
Refunds and withdrawal
Refunds, and your statutory right of withdrawal as an EU consumer, are covered in our Refund Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
09Acceptable use
Do not:
- use BrightPoints unlawfully, or to harm, harass, humiliate, or coerce anyone, including a child
- attempt to access another family's data, or to circumvent our security or access controls
- probe, scan, overload, or disrupt the service or its infrastructure, except as permitted under Security research below
- copy, resell, or make the service available to third parties as your own
- use the service, or data obtained from it, to train machine-learning models
- upload content that is unlawful, hateful, sexual, threatening, or otherwise inappropriate — remember that the text and emojis you enter are shown to children
We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these rules.
10Content you create
You keep ownership of the content you add — your behaviour names, reward names, categories, and family and child names.
You grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, display, and process that content solely for the purpose of operating the service for you. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account. We do not use your content to advertise, to train models, or for any purpose other than running BrightPoints for your family.
11Connecting other applications
You may choose to connect other software to your BrightPoints account — an AI assistant, for example — so that you can check on your family or approve requests without opening the app. This is optional and off unless you set it up.
If you do, you are responsible for what you connect. A connected application acts as you, within your family only, and can see your children's names, points, and pending requests. We are not responsible for what a third-party application does with information you have authorised it to receive, and connecting one does not make us a party to your agreement with its provider. What such an application can access is described in the Privacy Policy.
12An early-stage service
BrightPoints is young and still being built. Features change, occasionally break, and are sometimes withdrawn. We test carefully, but we cannot promise that a change will never lose data.
Please treat BrightPoints as a helpful record rather than the only copy of anything you cannot afford to lose. If something matters to your family — a long points history, a reward you promised — keep your own note of it as well.
13Availability and changes
BrightPoints has a free plan and an optional paid subscription for parents, BrightPoints Plus, set out in the Subscriptions and billing section above. We may change what each plan includes. If we do:
- we will tell you clearly before anything you currently use moves to a paid plan
- anything your children have already earned — points, levels, unlocked items — remains available to them
We may change, improve, or discontinue features. If we intend to discontinue the service entirely, we will give parents reasonable advance notice and a way to retrieve their family's data.
We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. Maintenance, technical failures, or the failure of a third-party provider may cause downtime.
14Ending your use
You may stop using BrightPoints at any time. You can delete an individual child directly in the app, and you can delete a family you are the only member of, provided it is not your only family.
To close your account entirely, or to delete your only family, email us at hello@brightpoints.app. We action these requests within 30 days and confirm when it is done. A self-service version is on the way; until it ships, email is the route.
We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms, if required by law, or if necessary to protect the service or other users.
15Security research
We welcome reports of security problems, and we would much rather hear from you than not.
If you believe you have found a vulnerability, please email hello@brightpoints.app with enough detail for us to reproduce it, and give us a reasonable opportunity to fix it before disclosing it publicly.
If you research in good faith, follow this section, act only against your own account and your own test data, avoid accessing or modifying any other family's data, and avoid degrading the service for others, we will not pursue action against you under these Terms and we will not ask others to. This does not authorise you to access another family's information — and given who uses BrightPoints, we ask you to be especially careful about that.
16Disclaimers
To the extent permitted by law, BrightPoints is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the service will be error-free, secure at all times, or that it will meet your particular requirements.
17Liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of data, loss of profit, or loss of opportunity arising from your use of BrightPoints.
Where we are liable, our total aggregate liability for all claims arising in any twelve-month period is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you have paid us for the service in that period, or (b) EUR 500.
If you are a consumer, the limitations in this section apply only so far as the mandatory consumer-protection law of your country of residence allows, and none of them affects your statutory rights. Where a limitation in this section would be unenforceable against you, it simply does not apply, and the rest of these Terms continues in effect.
18General terms
If part of these Terms fails
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, it is severed and the remaining provisions continue in full force. Where possible, the invalid provision is replaced by a valid one that comes closest to its original intent.
Events outside our control
We are not liable for any failure or delay in providing the service caused by events beyond our reasonable control — including the failure of an infrastructure provider, network or power outages, natural events, industrial action, war, or acts of government. If such an event continues for a prolonged period, either of us may end this agreement.
Transferring this agreement
You may not transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms to anyone else. We may transfer ours to a company that acquires our business, provided your rights under these Terms are not reduced. If that happens, we will tell parents in advance.
No waiver
If we do not enforce a right under these Terms straight away, that does not mean we have given it up.
How we contact each other
We will send notices to the email address on your parent account, or show them in the app. It is your responsibility to keep that address current. You can reach us at hello@brightpoints.app or at the postal address at the end of this page.
The whole agreement
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, the Children's Privacy Notice, and the Cookie Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us about BrightPoints, and replace anything said or written beforehand. This does not limit your rights in respect of any statement we have made fraudulently.
19Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. If a change is material, we will notify parents by email or in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use BrightPoints after that means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not accept them, you may close your account.
20Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Latvia, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection rules of the country in which you habitually reside.
Disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of the Republic of Latvia, again without prejudice to your right as a consumer to bring proceedings in your own country of residence.
Before that, please contact us — almost everything is quicker to resolve by email. EU consumers may also use the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform: ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
